HB 1437 - Tenure
House Bill 1437 began as a ban on tenure at 2-year institutions starting in 2026. It was soon after amended to alter tenure and post-tenure review by adding an additional “culminating committee” to the post-tenure review process. The bill was then signed by Governor Armstrong. After HB 1437 was signed, SB 2003, the higher education funding bill, was amended to strike out language in HB 1437 prescribing the makeup of the culminating committee and add due process protections to post-tenure evaluation. In the final version of SB 2003, the culminating committee language was added back in while additional due process protections remained.
ND United OPPOSED this bill.
