SB 2360 - Book Ban with Penalty

Senate Bill 2360 would have superseded local control of public libraries by requiring “objectionable material” be removed from libraries throughout North Dakota. The bill also would have imposed a class B misdemeanor ($1,500 fine and 30 days imprisonment) for any individual not in compliance with the legislation. SB 2360 had an estimated fiscal impact of $334 million dollars. Despite this, the bill passed the Legislature before Governor Burgum vetoed SB 2360.
